Legend has it that during the turbulent final years of the Yuan Dynasty, rebel forces needed a way to pass secret messages without being caught by patrolling soldiers. Strategist Liu Bowen came up with a clever plan — hiding notes that read "Rise up on the night of the 15th" inside mooncakes, then distributing them far and wide. On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, people bit into their mooncakes and discovered the message that would change history. Since then, the tradition of gifting mooncakes has lived on: small as they are, mooncakes have always carried the deepest of intentions.

This Mid-Autumn, Sum Patisserie brings that spirit of "hidden meaning" into our piped tarts 🌸
